COACHING EDUCATION IN ONTARIO
September,2008: ROWONTARIO has been working for several months in developing a transition plan for the delivery of Coach Education in Ontario, moving from the "old NCCP" certification system to the new. Our document titled "Coaching Education in Ontario" provides detailed information on clinics now being offered in Ontario, what coaches need to do to obtain and maintain coaching certification, and much more. Please download and review this document to get a full picture of how we are moving ahead with education of rowing coaches in our province. Coaching Education in Ontario - Overview
HIGHLIGHTS 1. There are now 3 coaching workshops in the NCCP program that coaches can participate in. Learn-To-Row Intstructor, RCA Coach and RCA Professional Development. 2. Coaches who are partially certified in the "old" NCCP system at L1 or L2 can take a combination of workshops to have their credentials transferred into the New NCCP database. 3. ROWONTARIO has streamlined the administrative processes for clubs to host clinics and for coaches and practical assessors to complete the practical certification process.
Coaching Education and Development is a priority for ROWONTARIO. We encourage all coaches to participate in the certification process and continue their own development throughout their coaching career. Whether you are working with novice or elite athletes, coaches who continue with their own development are much better able to provide positive rowing experiences with the athletes they are working with.
