ROWONTARIO is pleased to announce the coaching team that will work with our ROWONTARIO U17 (ROU17) Team. The ROU17 program is a new initiative designed to identify athletes that show speed and skill in the single. Athletes will race the 1X at the National Rowing Championships (NRC) and will come together to race the 4X for Team Ontario at the Canada Cup Regatta (CCR) that follows.

Horacio Tendilla Rocha (Don Rowing Club) has been named as the coach of our U17 Men’s Team and Katie Bruggeling (Queen’s University) will handle the duties as our Women’s Team Coach. In cooperation, partnership, and support from Queen’s University, Katie will be assisted by Rami Maassarani, Queen’s University Head Coach.

Both coaches will start immediately to coordinate the U17 program and work towards successful performances at the NRCs and CCR.

ROWONTARIO’s High Performance Manger, Chris Marshall, was pleased and impressed with the number of quality applications he received for the two positions and is excited to have the above coaches lead our first ROU17 Team.

“I am very pleased with our recent hiring process. The number and quality of the applicants for these positions was very impressive. We have many talented coaches in the province and it made the job of selecting just two quite difficult. I am excited to announce our coaches and look forward to watching them work with and develop our best U17 rowers. “– Chris Marshall, High Performance Manager, ROWONTARIO.

Please joins us in congratulating and welcoming Horatio, Katie, and Rami to the Team!
