RCA Umpire Clinic – Level 1 (Henley Island, St. Catharines)

Saturday, April 21, 2018 (8:30am – 12:30pm)

This is a 4 hour clinic is an introduction to being a rowing umpire and what it’s all about. On completion of the Clinic you will be an Assistant Umpire (Level 1) and will be able to work, along with a RCA licensed umpire (Level 2) at the Start, Finish and Control Commission for regattas. You may also have the opportunity to observe races from an umpire launch – depending on space, race conditions etc. The fee for the clinic is $25.00 + HST and the annual membership fee with ROWONTARIO.

After working at least five shifts at the Start, Finish, and Control Commission, and one experience on the water, you will have the opportunity to go to a full-day Level 2 Clinic and from there, after working the required number of shifts, you will be able to write the RCA licensing exam and become a licensed RCA Umpire. This process of obtaining the experience can take between one to three years.
Being an Umpire is a great way to stay involved, to give back, to meet and work with wonderful people and have some fun and see races from the best seat in the house!!
