On Saturday, May 27th, ROWONTARIO hosted it’s first of three Club Elite camps scheduled for 2017. Based on RADAR scores submitted from December 1, 2016 and May 1, 2017, coaches with rowers successful in meeting the Club Elite 2000m erg standards were invited to attend the camp. Representing 7 Clubs from across Ontario, 16 athletes, 2 coxswains and 6 coaches attended the camp held at the Kingston Rowing club.
The purpose of these camps is to provide rowers with a high performance racing opportunity (via time trials and head-to-head racing), as well as coaching and video feedback to improve rowing technique and further develop an effective race profile. We would like to thank Phil Marshall, Queens University rowing head coach, for facilitating a session on “Tactics and Progression in Multi-Day Competitions”.
The ROWONTARIO Club Elite program was initiated in 2015 to provide Club athletes and their coaches at the high performance level the opportunity to train and learn with their peers from other Clubs.  More information about the Club Elite program, including a list of erg standards and identified athletes, is available online at https://www.rowontario.ca/club-elite/.
The next Club Elite Camp is on Sunday June 25, 2017 at Guelph Rowing Club.  Athletes must submit an eligible 2000m erg score to the Athlete Monitoring database by May 27th in order to be included on the invitation list for the June 25th Camp.  A reminder that athletes will not be contacted directly; invitations are sent to Head Coaches 4 weeks prior to camp for distribution to eligible athletes and their individual coaches.
