The Claude Saunders Award is a monetary award to both the recipient and his/her club.
It is presented to a competitive youth member who has exhibited distinguished and exemplary volunteer service to both his/her club and to the sport of rowing.

Good coaches are crucial to the development of our sport. Competitive coaches provide athletes with guidance that is essential to the fulfillment of the athlete’s aspirations.

The Competitive Coach of the Year shall be a member in good standing of a member club. Over the past year he/she will have coached in the competitive program of a member club (High School, Masters, Club, Junior Competitive).

Each club may submit ONE nomination for this award. Submissions must be approved by the Club President.

Coaches are crucial to the development of our sport. Recreational coaches often guide the basic introductory rowing experience for our new members and are key to membership growth. Recreational coaches are also involved with the large segment of the rowing community involved in the Active for Life stage of LTAD. Recreational coaches work with those who “row for fun/fitness” and may or may not compete in house or at recreational events.

The Recreational Coach of the Year shall be a member in good standing of ROWONTARIO.
Each club may submit ONE nomination for this award. All nominations must be approved by the Club President.

Our Clubs make rowing happen. Successful clubs are models of good organization, offer dynamic programs for all aspects of rowing, and are good role models for other clubs to aspire to.

To qualify for this award a club must be a member in good standing of ROWONTARIO. Submissions will be scored by the Awards Committee of ROWONTARIO and selection approved by the Board of Directors. Selection will be based on performance in categories of Excellence, Participation, Capacity and Interaction.

The high school bursary is an initiative that ROWONTARIO created to help support high school rowers to continue rowing. Based on applications, up to two awards will be given out each year. Each year, the award(s) will not exceed a combined total of $5000.

Monthly Athlete Recognition

ROWONTARIO and Direct Sports Apparel know that there’s more to being an athlete than podium finishes! The DSA Peak ROWONTARIO Athlete program acknowledges Ontario athletes who represent our sport well, both on and off the water. Through their leadership, dedication, and community involvement, these athletes serve as an inspiration for many. These individuals are some of the peak members of our community.

This monthly recognition will go to individuals, nominated by their peers, coaches, volunteers, or fellow-club members, who embody the qualities of a Peak athlete: leadership, dedication, and community involvement. Each monthly recipient will receive recognition on our website, through social media, and also receive a special-edition sweat-wicking technical t-shirt courtesy of Direct Sports Apparel.
