RCA Coach Weekend 1 •Workshops are held over two weekends and are approximately 32 hours in
workshop time. • Integrates NCCP multi-sport material with rowing specific material. •Approximately 6 months between workshops #1 and # 2 required for practical coaching time. •Prepares coaches taking rowers who are in the Training to Train and Learning to Compete stages of LTAD to regattas. •Introduces new concepts including Long Term Athlete Development and Movement Screen. •The coach will be entered in to the NCCP database as trained after completing the two weekend workshops. •The coach will be certified after successful completion of the RCA Coach evaluation (evaluated by a RCA accredited evaluator) and completion of the CAC Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation. •Coaches are expected to do professional development after five years of certification in order to maintain certification. •Coaches are expected to participate in professional development on an ongoing basis. Coaches must participate in professional development within five years to maintain certification. This could include but is not limited to workshops relating to fitness, health, safety, rowing technique or in some cases, RCA or a provincial rowing association may make a workshop mandatory. | RCA Coach Weekend 2 This workshop is part two to the RCA Coach Weekend #1 (Competition
Introduction) workshop. Apart from re-visiting the outcomes for the RCA Coach and introducing new concepts, this workshop is also focused on the coaches’ reflections on their practical coaching (using the assignment from Weekend #1 as a resource for this dialogue). Within each of the modules, there is an opportunity for the coaches to discuss and reflect on their coaching practice and integrate new knowledge from this workshop into their practical coaching. Modules in Weekend #2 include: Analyze Performance - The Model (review) & Errors Teaching & Learning Analyze Performance – Equipment and Rigging Analyze Performance – Testing and Monitoring Design a Sport Program-Plan a season Design a Sport Program Movement Screen and Strength Training Basic Strength Training exercises for Rowing Analyze Performance: Race Performance Support the Competitive Experience |
