Following further review and discussion, we have made the decision not to proceed with a rescheduled RowOn Championships next weekend.

This decision was not made lightly. We carefully considered a number of factors, including event logistics, volunteer and umpire availability, athlete and club travel considerations, and the overall ability to deliver a championship experience that meets the standards expected by our participants. After weighing these factors, we concluded that moving forward with a rescheduled event would not be in the best interests of the rowing community.

We recognize that this news will be disappointing to many athletes, coaches, and families who were looking forward to competing, and we sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and flexibility throughout this process.

As an alternative racing opportunity, we would like to make clubs aware that the ERA Regatta in Montreal has extended its entry deadline until today (July 20) at 11:59 p.m. This extension has been provided to help accommodate additional clubs and athletes who may have been planning to attend the RowOn Championships. Clubs interested in participating are encouraged to submit their entries before the extended deadline.

Thank you again for your continued support of RowOn and for your commitment to rowing. We wish all athletes the best for the remainder of the racing season and look forward to seeing you on the water again soon.
After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this weekend’s RowOn Championship regatta.

We do not take this decision lightly. However, based on the forecasted air quality concerns and anticipated inclement weather, we believe this is the most responsible course of action. The health, safety, and well-being of all athletes, coaches, volunteers, umpires, and spectators remains our highest priority.

While we recognize the disappointment this news will bring, we also appreciate the reality that safe and fair racing conditions are unlikely to be achievable this weekend due to air quality and/or weather-related challenges. We are grateful for the tremendous commitment and preparation that clubs, coaches, athletes, volunteers, and families have invested in this event. Thank you for your understanding and support as we make this difficult but necessary decision.

The feasibility of postponing the regatta until next weekend (July 25-26) is currently being investigated and will depend on organizational capacity, venue and volunteer availability, and the level of interest from clubs in participating in a rescheduled event. We will communicate further information as soon as these discussions have progressed and a decision has been made regarding a potential postponement.
To provide additional time for interested candidates through a busy summer we have extended the nomination deadline for the Row Ontario Board of Directors from July 15 to July 31.
