2021 Ontario Regatta Schedule Released
The late-summer and early-fall will see rowers back on the water and competing at regattas throughout the province as Row Ontario announced on Monday the schedule for regattas being hosted in Ontario in 2021.
The regattas on the schedule include the Row Ontario Small Boat Regatta, The OUA and Canadian University Rowing Championships, five head races, and two invitationals.
“We’re excited to send out this ‘save the date’ to members of the Ontario rowing community for the upcoming regatta schedule,” said Andrew Backer, Row Ontario CEO. “It’s been almost two years since regattas were hosted in Ontario and we’re really looking forward to seeing Ontario rowers back in boats and competing with each other. There’s a good variety of events on the schedule in a short time period, so it will be exciting to see how all these regattas play out over the next few months.”
The first regatta of 2021 was hosted over this past weekend in London, as Western Rowing hosted the London-Western Invitational Regatta. Eight clubs participated in the event which took place at the Doug Wells Rowing Centre on Saturday. The last inter-club regatta to be hosted in Ontario prior to the London-Western Invitational Regatta was in October 2019. All regattas taking place in 2021 will be done so in accordance with COVID-19 protocols and local public health guidelines.

Sept. 11 – Muskoka Fall Classic – Gravenhurst, Ont.
Sept. 18 – Row Ontario Small Boat Regatta – Welland, Ont.
Sept. 19 – Jack Nicholson Head of the Martindale – St. Catharines, Ont.
Sept. 25 – Guelph Invitational – Guelph, Ont. (universities only)
Sept. 25-26 – Head of the Welland Five Bridges Fall Classic – Welland, Ont.
Sept. 26 – Head of the Rideau – Ottawa, Ont.
Oct. 2 – Head of the Trent – Peterborough, Ont.
Oct. 16 – Brock Invitational – St. Catharines, Ont. (universities only)
Oct. 30 – OUA Rowing Championships – Location TBD (universities only)
Oct. 31 – Martha Coffey Frostbite Sprints – Toronto, Ont.
Nov. 6-7 – Canadian University Rowing Championships – Welland, Ont. (universities only)
