Athlete Development Pathway
The Long-Term Athlete Development Model (LTAD) provides a consistent framework from which clubs, coaches, club administrators, and provincial and national rowing associations can work from.
Purpose
The purpose of the LTAD Model is to examine various aspects of our programs to ensure that we are providing the best environment (including competition, equipment, coaching) to optimize athlete development. This long-term involvement may mean progressing as a national team rower, or it may mean having access to appropriate programs and support to be involved in rowing for life
Systematic & Consistent Approach
The LTAD Model has been designed with the input of sport scientists and coaches from across the country. It is a long-term rower development model that illustrates to coaches, parents, volunteers and administrators at all levels the priority focus within each stage. It communicates a systematic and consistent approach to the development of athletes and recognizes the importance of participation in our sport for recreation and health, for competition and for high performance.
About The LTAD Model
The LTAD model is to be used as a guide for coaches and administrators. This will assist them in understanding the importance of the development of rowing abilities aspects in athletes at specific stages. It is hoped that the systematic approach will help achieve excellence in rowing and at the same time make our sport more enjoyable. We want to people to achieve their potential and we want to win medals on the international stage. AND we want to keep people passionate about rowing. It is a great place to be.
