Call for Expressions of Interest: Diversity & Inclusion Committee
Row Ontario is seeking expressions of interest to fill up to (5) positions on the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
The mandate of the Row Ontario Diversity and Inclusion Committee is to advocate for fair treatment of every person involved in the sport of rowing throughout Ontario and ensure that everyone is able to participate in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive sport system, where every athlete, coach, official, volunteer, board member, or administrator, feels that they belong and are valued; that their voices are heard; that they have a right to choose and consent; that they face no inequitable barriers to leadership roles; they are encouraged and supported to take these roles on, if they so choose; and there are individuals available to act as mentors. The committee will identify initiatives, create strategies, and advise on matters related to diversity and inclusion. The committee will collaborate with Row Ontario staff to determine, and work towards established targets each fiscal year, as set out in the Row Ontario strategic plan. The Terms of Reference for the Committee can be found here.
Term Lengths – Positions on the committee will be for one-year terms; however, there is no maximum number of terms a member can sit on the Committee.
Meetings – The RowOn Diversity and Inclusion Committee will meet at least quarterly, with the majority of the committee business conducted by email and virtually.
