With almost 50 years of experience as an athlete, administrator and coach, Chris Marshall brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Row Ontario. Chris has coached with the Brockville Rowing Club for over 30 years and has served as head coach of the club since 2007. Throughout his tenure he has developed and coached athletes and crews to podium performances at regional, provincial, national and international events.

A graduate of Mercyhurst University with a BA in Business Administration, Chris has also made his coaching mark at the national and international levels, serving as RCA’s Junior Team coordinator for seven years. He served as a Junior National Team coach in 2000, 2004, and 2007 and planned and facilitated Junior National Team training camps each year. He was the onsite coach for the gold-medal winning Lightweight Men’s 2 at the 2000 World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia and the silver-medal winning Junior Men’s 2 at the 2007 World Junior Championships in Beijing, China.

Throughout his coaching career Chris has been a mentor to his fellow coaches and has helped develop coaches who have produce rowers ranging from club level to elite. He’s also regularly coached at training camps for Ontario Summer Games and Canada Summer Games.

As Director, Rowing with Row Ontario, Chris’ role includes athlete development, overseeing Provincial Development Teams – including the Canada Summer Games team, high performance partnership management, and the Quest for Gold—Ontario Athlete Assistance Program (OAAP) and the Ontario High Performance Sports Initiative (OHPSI) program.
