ROWONTARIO recognized that while the NCCP recognized courses are important for the development of many coaches, there was still a gap in what our rowing coaches wanted to learn and what was being offered at the time. As such, ROWONTARIO is now able to fill that gap with two non-NCCP courses and ensure that our coaches are able to gain the desired knowledge and skills. There is no evaluation portion of the non-NCCP courses.

The Youth Rowing Workshop has been designed by ROWONTARIO in consultation with youth rowing experts to provide new coaches with introductory training to work with juniors and high school rowers.

This 1 day hands on session is for someone with rowing experience, new to coaching and working with youth (12-19 years of age) in high school or junior programs. Topics covered will be: Coaching basics, Safety, Intro to technique, Intro to practice planning, coaching youth, intro to competition. This workshop is a great preparatory workshop for coaches who think they would like to take RCA Coach training. Upon completion of this workshop coaches will be better equipped to deliver a practice to youth rowers. Resources and helpful sample practices will be provided to coaches.

Becoming a successful rower is not just about time spent on the water. Exercising on an ergometer (erg) is an important part of athletic training.

This certification course gives coaches background knowledge and tools to safely train athletes on an erg. With a 20-week training program at three different levels of intensity, Fitness Rower certification will allow coaches to confidently train athletes on an erg.
