Kathleen Rankin joined Row Ontario in March 2022 as the Member Services Coordinator. She joins the team with a strong background in administration, not-for-profit organizations, and governance, after earning a BA (Hon) in International Relations from St. Thomas University as well as an MA in Political Studies from Queen’s University. Kathleen carries experience from various sectors, including academia, research, government, and not-for-profits.
She also has a strong background in rowing and sport delivery, which began in 2014 when she trained and competed with the University of New Brunswick and Fredericton Rowing Club, and coached novice high school athletes. In 2018, Kathleen returned to Ontario and joined the Kingston Rowing Club, where she has contributed to the club as an athlete, coach, club administrator and board member. In 2019, she joined the Queen’s University rowing program as a Novice Coach and continues to be involved as an Assistant Coach.
Outside of rowing Kathleen enjoys volunteer coaching novice skaters at her local rink, playing ultimate frisbee, and taking trips to the East Coast.
Kathleen splits her time between Row Ontario and Ontario Sailing, working within the COAST program to increase club’s impact on their communities and their sports. Over the last five years, a changing sports landscape has led to member clubs facing an increased workload with regards to topics such as ONCA, safe sport, human resources as well as challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Kathleen works with clubs and provides increased support to the foundation of both sports.
