Row Ontario Announces First Ever Masters Festival on June 15-16
For the first time in its history Row Ontario will host the RowOn Masters Festival on June 15-16 in Welland.
The two-day festival begins with the RowOn Masters Championships on Saturday, June 15, followed by a Masters Training Camp on Sunday, June 16. After racing on Saturday, the there will be an opportunity for the masters community to gather at a local pub for food, drinks, and conversation. Sunday will feature on-water and dryland training as well as opportunities for socializing and networking among Ontario’s masters community.
The Masters Training Camp will feature:
- Two on-water sessions, where athletes can row in their existing crews, or mix it up and row with athletes from other clubs, with the opportunity to get feedback from a coach other than their day-to-day club coach.
- Pilates, with Kubet Weston – a great chance to limber up after a day of racing!
- Interactive sessions on “hot topics” in masters rowing, including masters physiology and appropriate race warm-up, maintenance of mobility and strength as masters athletes, finding the optimal rowing/life balance through the different phases of life, and more!
- Lunch and refreshments are provided.
The festivities for both days will take place on the North Course of the Welland International Flatwater Centre.
