Weekend Wrap: 35th Annual Ontario Indoor Rowing Championships

The Ontario Indoor Rowing Championships took place from Ridley College in St. Catharines, Ont., on Saturday and featured over 500 entries from schools and clubs across Ontario.

The annual event, which was the 35th in history, returned to pre-pandemic levels with 578 entries from 33 clubs and schools. Last year, the event was the first indoor rowing competition to be held in Ontario since the pandemic began and drew 220 entries. With the entries back up the Ridley College Fieldhouse was busy throughout the day on Saturday, as competitors competed across youth, junior high school, senior high school, masters and open divisions over 500m (youth) and 2000m.

Competing in the senior high school division, Caillen Pieckenhagen of the host Ridley College delivered the fastest time of the day on the men’s side, crossing the finish line in a time of 6:24.6.
