Host a Try-It Event

The RCA Event Sanction Policy outlines the requirements and processes for planning and delivering consistently safe and fair rowing events across Canada.
Sanctioning for Ontario Rowing Events
Sanction is required for all rowing events, including Try-It events.
Sanction is a three-stage process:
- The first stage requires the completion and submission of the RCA Online Event Sanction application. Submitting the completed application ensures that the Organizing Committee has considered the many perspectives of staging an Event.
- Try-It Events require the completion of an online sanction application. For sanctioned “Try-it Events”, a per event sanction fee ($5 per participant, to a maximum of $75) will be charged to cover the cost of specific insurance coverage for that Try-It event. Fees are to be submitted at the time the application is submitted to the PRA.
- The second involves a review of the submission by RCA, to ensure the event aligns with the objectives outlined in Section 21 of the RCA By-Laws (safety of participants, fairness of competition, and good representation of Canadian rowing).
- The final stage is the post-event reporting process, which ensures that reflection for improvement occurs, and is carried forward to future events.
- A Post-Event Report must be completed by the Try-It Event Organizer. The completed report is to be submitted to Row Ontario and, where appropriate, the Organizing Committee, within three weeks of the event.
