Sandra Farwell (nee Kisil) was a member of Canada’s National Rowing Team from 2006-11 and turned to coaching following the close of her National Team career. In 2016, she completed a coaching internship with Rowing Canada Aviron, where she spent time assisting some of Canada’s top coaches, and soon after began coaching within the Ontario club system. Her club coaching experience includes stints at the Hanlan Boat Club (Competitive Masters) and Argonaut Rowing Club (Adult Rowing Programs Manager) and she was most recently the Junior Program Coach at the Don Rowing Club (2021-23) where she led a team of over 50 athletes.

Additionally, Sandra has coached at the high school level, and in 2019 was an indoor rowing instructor with Scullhouse. From 2012-17 she served as a Strength and Conditioning Coach where she implemented programming with an emphasis on technical proficiency and injury rehabilitation/prevention. Sandra has obtained her Learn-to-Row Coach and RCA Coach Certification and is an RCA Performance Coach in training.

During her national team career, Sandra competed all over the globe, winning a bronze medal in the W4- at the 2009 World Rowing Championships, a gold (W2-) and silver (W4-) at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and a bronze in the W2- at the 2011 Pan Am Games. In recent years she’s remained competitive in Beach Sprints, and competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Rowing Association Beach Sprint Championships in Walvis Bay, Namibia as member of the mixed double.
