Learn to Row:

The RCA Learn to Row Coach Workshop is a NCCP recognized 1-day workshop that is ideal for instructors or coaches working with participants in a non-competitive context. These participants could range in age from 10-65+ and be participating in programs such as summer camp, adult recreational leagues or Learn to Row programs, to name a few examples. After taking this workshop, instructors/coaches will be equipped with lesson plans, appropriate drills, and will know how to better set up equipment to ensure a comfortable and injury-free rowing experience.

The RCA Learn to Row Coach workshop includes classroom curriculum facilitated by a trained NCCP Learning Facilitator, as well as practical experience, in the following areas:

  1. RCA & the New NCCP
  2. Safety Review
  3. Analyze Performance – The Rowing Stroke
  4. Lesson Planning, Structure & Modification
  5. Communication
  6. Teaching & Learning
  7. Rigging & Basic Equipment Maintenance

Upon completion of this workshop (including prerequisites), coaches will be considered “Trained” in the Learn to Row context.  After applying the concepts learned, coaches will complete their coach portfolio and be observed by a trained NCCP Coach Evaluator to become “Certified”.
