2022 Canada Summer Games
The 2022 Canada Summer Games (CSG) will be hosted in the Niagara Region. The CSG’s have been postponed and are scheduled to take place in the Summer of 2022. A total of 12 different municipalities within the Niagara region will play host to over 5000 athletes for 15 days of competition, friendship and celebrations. The Province of Ontario, specifically Row Ontario, want these games to be the best ever for Ontario athletes.
Rowing at the Canada Summer Games
The rowing events will take place in St. Catharines on the historic home of the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, Martindale Pond. The CSG rowing competition is an under-22 event, eligible athletes must be born in 2001 or later (see announcement here regarding age categories) .
Ontario athletes at previous CSG’s have been a dominate force and rowers specifically have played a large role in Team Ontario’s overall success at the Games. In 2017, Ontario led the overall medal standings with 210 medals (86 gold, 65 silver, 59 bronze) while Ontario rowers brought home a total of ten medals (7 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze) in 14 total events. Their seven gold medals were the most in the nation.
Summer Games Team Members
The members of Team Ontario will be determined at a later date. At the last edition of the CSG’s, hosted in Winnipeg, MB in 2017, Team Ontario consisted of 14 men, 14 women, two coxswains and five support staff.
The members of Team Ontario will be selected for the team through the 2022 Canada Summer Games Selection Guidelines.
