2024 RowOn Coaching Conference Presented by Filippi Canada Brings Together Over 150 Coaches

The 2024 RowOn Coaching Conference Presented by Filippi Canada took place over the weekend in Burlington, ON.

The Conference kicked off with two keynote sessions, first from Rowing Australia’s Performance Director Paul Thompson. Thompson’s keynote speech titled ‘Coaching in High Performance and High Performing Environments Presented by HUDSON’ took the attendees around the world as Thompson discussed his previous coaching experiences in China, the UK, and Australia and the successes those programs experienced. Next up was the second keynote by Ontario’s own Michelle Darvill, whose keynote ‘Fostering a Supportive Atmosphere to Form a Thriving Rowing Community Presented by HUDSON’ went into how the atmosphere surrounding the crews she coached in Canada and the Netherlands contributed to their great successes on the water at the Tokyo and Paris Olympics.

Following the keynote sessions, the coaches broke off into breakout sessions – which featured a variety of lecture and practical sessions – for the next phase of the day, before coming back together at the end of the day for an interesting panel session on rowing technique. In total the Conference saw 21 sessions on Saturday plus two limited participation ‘fireside chats’ with the keynote speakers on Sunday. Over 150 coaches from Ontario, Western Canada, Quebec and the USA attended the conference.
