Call for Expression of Interest – Row Ontario Sanctions Committee
Row Ontario is seeking expressions of interest to fill up to (2) positions on the Sanctions Committee.
The mandate of the Row Ontario Sanctions Committee is to provide an effective event sanctioning service to member clubs and associations that is timely, adheres to the RCA Rules of Racing and Sanction Policy, and offers support to members to enhance the safety and fairness of regattas held in Ontario.
The Row Ontario Sanctions Committee meets at least twice a year, with most committee business being conducted via email and conference call.
Candidate Profile
This is an ideal opportunity for members of the Ontario rowing community who have experience on a regatta organizing committee, either as a Regatta Chair or as a Chief Umpire.
The ideal candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of the RCA Rules of Racing and an understanding of how they are applied at regattas of various size, level of competition and geographic location. Collaboration with fellow committee members is a must, as well as strong oral and written communication. The ideal candidate must be available to review sanction applications in a timely fashion (within 48 hours of submission).
As well as reviewing sanction applications and providing recommendations to the Sanctions Officer, the Row Ontario Sanctions Committee provides advice to the Row Ontario Board of Directors on policies and procedures related to regatta sanctioning and event management. From time to time, the Row Ontario Sanctions Committee will also provide advice to Member Clubs, via Row Ontario staff, to help standardize and improve the quality of events hosted in Ontario.
The position reports to the Row Ontario Sanctions Officer, who reports directly to the CEO.
