Call for Expressions of Interest – 2024 RowOn Regattas


Row Ontario is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who are interested in filling the following positions for 2024 Row Ontario-hosted events, including RowOn Masters Championships Regatta, Ontario Cup Beach Sprints, Tony Biernacki Sr. Memorial Regatta, RowOn Championship Regatta, and OUA Championships.

RowOn Masters Championship Regatta
Date: June 15, 2024
Location: Welland, North Course

Ontario Cup Beach Sprints
Date: June 22, 2024
Location: Hamilton, ON (exact venue TBC)

Tony Biernacki Sr. Memorial Regatta
Date: July 14, 2024
Location: Welland, North Course

RowOn Championship Regatta
Date: July 20-21, 2024

OUA Championships

Location: Henley Island, St. Catharines

Candidate Profile
This is an opportunity for an experienced, approachable leader who knows how to delegate effectively, enjoys collaborating with an expert team, can identify tasks that need doing and is willing to do them, and has refined oral and written communication skills that will enable them to effectively engage with the Row Ontario Staff and Organizing Committee.

Chief Umpire:

  • Minimum 5 years of umpiring experience. For the RowOn Championship Regatta, the RowOn Masters Regatta, and the OUA Championships, the successful candidate should have at least 3 years of active experience as a Chief Umpire. For Beach Sprints events, the successful candidate must have Beach Sprints experience, in addition to Chief Umpire experience.

Deputy Chief Umpire:

Minimum 5 years of umpiring experience, including having successfully passed the L2 Chief Umpire Exam.

Associate Chief Umpire:

  • Minimum 3 years of umpiring experience, including having completed a Level 3 Chief Umpire Clinic.

All Positions:

In-depth understanding of the RCA Rules of Racing.

  • Experience facilitating meetings.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.
  • Experience umpiring at the regatta of choice and/or at other regattas at the host venue will be considered an asset.

Compensation

  • There is a $250.00 honorarium (per day) for the Chief Umpire of each event.
  • Mileage will be covered to and from the regatta.
  • Accommodations will be covered if required.
  • A meal per diem will be provided for meals not provided.

Expressions of interest shall be submitted by February 16, 2024 at 5:00pm to applications@rowontario.ca.

  • details of your involvement in rowing and umpiring, and indicate how your experience, expertise and attributes align with the candidate profile described above.
