Call for Timing Volunteers – Join the Future of Regatta Timing with Row Ontario

Row Ontario is excited to announce the decision to move to a new timing system – Crew Timer, for all regattas the organization hosts. Crew Timer is fully integrated with Regatta Master and is very simple to use.

“Making the investment to move to a more user-friendly timing system aligns with our vision to increase the quality of the experience participants experience with rowing,’ said Andrew Backer, Row Ontario CEO. “Our vision is to not only use this new timing system at RowOn proprietary events, but to find economical ways to allow other regatta organizers to have access to user-friendly timing equipment to help regatta organizers modernize their operations.”

Phase I of Row Ontario’s commitment is to build a cohort of individuals who are trained with the new software and hardware. This includes having more people available to volunteer for timing at RowOn events but also at their local regattas to run timing.

We’re currently recruiting volunteers for the following events:

  • Tony Biernacki Sr. Memorial Regatta – June 14
  • RowOn Masters Championships – July 13
  • RowOn Championships – July 19 & 20

There will be additional training opportunities available to learn how to use Crew Timer, stay tuned.

Why Get Involved?

  • Hands-on experience with the Crew Timer system
  • Learn valuable skills in regatta timing and event operations
  • Support your club or local regatta by bringing back knowledge and expertise
  • Be part of a growing network – Row Ontario is planning to rent out our equipment to other regatta organizers as early as 2026, so we need a network of people able to use the system.

Who Should Get Involved?

Whether you’re new to timing or already have experience, this is a great opportunity to get involved, learn something new, and contribute to the rowing community. No rowing experience necessary.

Interested?

If you’re curious about timing, want to volunteer with Row Ontario, or are interested in learning the system for your own club or regatta, we want to hear from you!
