Coast to Coast – Indoor Rowing Day in Canada is Back for 2022!

Coast to Coast – Indoor Rowing Day in Canada is back for 2022!

You are invited to join the entire Canadian rowing community on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022 from 9am to 12pm EST with the goal of logging enough kilometres on the indoor rowing machine to travel from Coast to Coast!

In 2020, hundreds of rowers across Canada took part in the first ever national event, helping the rowing community to travel across the country, more than 5,514 kilometres. Indoor Rowing Day in Canada took a hiatus in 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic but is back this year for the second edition of the event.

The goal of Indoor Rowing Day in Canada is to create a wave of indoor rowing featuring your photos and videos on social media as the day moves through the time zones across Canada. The event will begin at 9:00 am in Newfoundland and Labrador, then spread west from there.

If public health rules allow, clubs are encouraged to invite your members or the general public to hop on a rowing machine and be part of this national event on Saturday Feb. 26. If you are unable to gather in person, a virtual edition of the event is suggested. In person or virtually, this is an exciting opportunity to connect with the rowing community in your area and increase the profile of both indoor and outdoor rowing.

There are a few ways to encourage participation of this event:

  • Team challenge within your club
  • Challenge another club
  • Relay style
  • Come and Try! A new way to introduce the sport to the community

The more, the merrier! This event is organized by the Provincial Advisory Council (PAC) of Rowing Canada Aviron, which consists of representatives from all provincial rowing associations. If your club plans on participating in the event, please do the following:

  • Let the PAC know in advance you’ll be participating so they can follow you and help promote the event on social media
  • Send the total kilometres and the number of people who participated in your event to the PAC on February 26. Kilometres submitted after the 26th will not count.
