Drone Usage at Regattas
Row Ontario has recently received inquiries regarding drone usage at regattas in Ontario. We would like to remind Regatta Organizers and Member Clubs that Transport Canada has strict rules and regulations governing the use of drones at advertised or organized events.
Please note that the below Transport Canada policy, which has been in effect since April 2025, applies to all drones being operated at public events, including microdrones (weighing less than 250g).

In addition to Transport Canada’s requirements, local municipalities may have additional restrictions or permitting processes. It is important to confirm with the host municipality that all applicable regulations are met before operating a drone at any regatta.
