Call for Expressions of Interest – 2023 Row Ontario Regatta Positions
Row Ontario is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who are interested in filling the following positions for the 2023 Row Ontario-hosted events, including Small Boats Regatta, Tony Biernacki Sr. Memorial Regatta, RowOn Masters Championships Regatta, and RowOn Championships Regatta:
RowOn Small Boats Regatta

RowOn Masters Championship Regatta
Date: July 16, 2023
Location: Welland, North Course
Positions Available (2): Chief Umpire, Associate Chief Umpire
RowOn Championship Regatta
Date: July 29-30, 2023
Location: Welland, South Course
Positions Available (3): Chief Umpire, Deputy Chief Umpire, Associate Chief Umpire
Candidate Profile
This is an opportunity for an experienced, approachable leader who knows how to delegate effectively, enjoys collaborating with an expert team, can identify tasks that need doing and is willing to do them, and has refined oral and written communication skills that will enable them to effectively engage with the Row Ontario Staff and Organizing Committee.
Chief Umpire / Deputy Chief Umpire:
- Minimum 5 years of umpiring experience, including 3 years of active experience as a Chief Umpire.
Associate Chief Umpire:
- Minimum 3 years of umpiring experience, including having completed a Level 3 Chief Umpire Clinic.
All Positions:
- In-depth understanding of the RCA Rules of Racing.
- Experience facilitating meetings.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.
- Experience umpiring at the regatta of choice and/or at other regattas at the host venue will be considered an asset.
Compensation
- There is a $250.00 honorarium (per day) for the Chief Umpire of each event.
- Mileage will be covered to and from the regatta.
- Accommodations will be covered if required.
- A meal per diem will be provided for meals not provided.
