Row Ontario announced on Monday that Emily Jago has filled the vacant Director position on the organizations Board of Directors.

Jago joins the Row Ontario Board of Directors with a wealth of experience in rowing in several different roles. She was most recently the President of Row Nova Scotia (Feb. 2022 – Feb. 2024) where, among other accomplishments, she facilitated the development process of their Strategic Plan and increased yearly provincial sport funding by $23,000 for next four years based on performance and achievement of annual outcomes. Prior to her stint as President, Jago served as Director of Governance with Row Nova Scotia for two years and was a member of RCA’s SafeSport Implementation Advisory Council (2020-22) and Accountability Committee (2023-Present).

Jago got her start in rowing as an athlete and has a been a member of several rowing clubs and programs across Ontario, including the UWO Boat Club, Guelph Rowing Club and Sudbury Rowing Club. In 2015, she was named OUA Female Rower of the Year while attending Laurentian University thanks to her win in the women’s single. Jago has also been an active coach throughout her involvement in rowing and was a summer coach at the London Rowing Club as well as a para, junior and masters coach at the Sudbury Rowing Club, where she also served a stint as Club President.

As a member of the Row Ontario Board of Directors, Jago hopes to support the growth of the sport in the province, help foster excellence at all levels, and allow others to find the joy in rowing that she’s experienced throughout her involvement in the sport.

Row Ontario’s Board of Directors consists of volunteers with experience in rowing and strategic skills in different areas of governance. In addition, several committees work on specific aspects of delivering rowing in Ontario. At its 2014 Annual General Meeting, Row Ontario’s members voted to move to a Policy Board, where the Board makes all governance decisions and delegates the responsibility for operations decisions exclusively to the senior staff person.
