Row Ontario Announces Home Head Race 3km Time Trials in October

With the calendar about to turn to October and the Fall rowing season now upon us, Row Ontario announced on Monday an exciting Home Head Race Time Trial aimed at stimulating virtual inter-club competition around the province.

Row Ontario is inviting all clubs from across the province to participate in the Home Head Race Time Trials from Oct. 14-18. The time trials will take place exclusively in singles and can be completed over a 3km straight stretch or loop at any club. The goal of the event is to provide a platform for province-wide competition between clubs while maintaining social distancing and COVID-19 protocols.

Row Ontario encourages each club to set up is own 3km Time Trial course between Oct. 14-18 and submit the results once completed to Row Ontario. A five-day window has been given to conduct the home head race to encourage distancing and with the realization that the weather might not be ideal on only one day. While the conditions and the course will be different from location to location and may slightly affect times, it will still be a great opportunity for athletes to see how well their training has progressed during the 2020 season.

Upon completion of the event, Row Ontario will publish clubs’ individual results and a Province-wide compilation of the results so individuals can see where they stack up against everyone else in their categories.
