Row Ontario Releases 2020-25 Strategic Plan
Row Ontario has charted a course for the next five years with the release of the organization’s 2020-25 Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan features new Mission and Vision statements as well as the five core values of Collaboration, Equity, Excellence, Innovation and Integrity, that will guide all activities and actions of the organization.
The release of the Strategic Plan comes after a collaborative process that included surveys of Ontario rowing clubs, one-on-one interviews with stakeholders, focus groups and a strategic planning session at the 2019 Ontario Rowing Association Conference that led to the creation of the Mission, Vision, Values, Goals and Priorities within the Strategic Plan.
“For this strategic plan we wanted to make sure we received feedback from the Ontario rowing community on how they wanted to see the sport continue to evolve,” said Andrew Backer, Executive Director of Row Ontario. “Creating this plan was a long but rewarding process and the input we received from members of the rowing community was very beneficial in helping to determine our priorities and our approach as we move forward with the sport. We’re excited about where the sport of rowing in Ontario is headed and look forward to working in partnership with all stakeholders to implementing the plan over the next five years.”
The Strategic Plan was completed in March to coincide with the end of the 2017-20 Strategic Plan which expired on March 31, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the announcement of the new Strategic Plan was delayed, and Row Ontario’s Board of Directors recently ratified a motion to extend the end of the plan one year, from 2024 to 2025, in order to account for the variations in Year 1 of the plan as a result of COVID-19.
Row Ontario would like to thank Strategic Planning Consultant Maryann Kerr of the Medalist Group for her hard work and assistance with creating the 2020-25 Strategic Plan and all of those in the rowing community who took part in the consultative process.
