Row Ontario Staff Update
Row Ontario is pleased to announce that Jirianna Couroux will be joining the staff team as Domestic Rowing Coordinator.
Couroux has a strong background in rowing as a member of the Niagara rowing community and has served in several different roles including coach, board member and volunteer.
“We’re very excited to add Jirianna to our staff team,” said Andrew Backer, CEO of Row Ontario. “Jirianna has a wealth of experience in rowing and her familiarity to Row Ontario and the Ontario rowing community will certainly be a big help as she starts out in this role. I know Jirianna has an excellent work ethic and is very passionate about the sport of rowing. I have no doubt she’ll be a strong asset to the Row Ontario team.”
Couroux grew up in Nova Scotia and was introduced to rowing from watching it on the water on Lake Banook in Dartmouth. In 2014 she started to volunteer at South Niagara Rowing Club and was soon asked to join the Board of Directors at SNRC. Since that time, she filled several roles at the club including coach, general manager, Safe Sport Lead and Vice President of Rowing as a member of the Board of Directors. She’s volunteered at countless regattas in the Niagara region and is passionate about growing the sport of rowing.
Couroux will begin her position with Row Ontario on Friday, June 14 and will be onsite for the RowOn Masters events this weekend.
