Seven Ontario Rowers Named to Junior Pan Am Games Team
Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) has announced the Junior Team heading to the Junior Pan American Games in Asuncion, Paraguay August 9-23.
This is the second edition of the Junior Pan Am Games, after the first edition in Cali and Valle, Colombia in 2021. The event acts as an excellent opportunity for these rowers to gain international exposure and gain race experience.
Among the 11 rowers named to the team include seven with ties to Ontario clubs and universities. Row Ontario’s Chris Marshall will also join the team in Asuncion, coaching the men’s sculling duo of Western University’s Oliver Baker and Kyland Mels-Williams. Baker and Williams have been based at the Ontario NextGen Performance Centre in Welland in advance of Asuncion and recently won the gold medal in the U23 men’s double at the 2025 RowOn Championships.
The nine members of the women’s team will compete in the double, pair, four and eight categories in Asuncion. Ontario rowers named to the team include Riley Richardson (Ottawa Rowing Club), Ella McKinley (ONGPC), Tess Friar (Peterborough Rowing Club/Trent University), Jalyn Mowry (Brock University/ Peterborough Rowing Club), and Teija Patry (Western University).
