The Next Play – Coach Development Opportunity
Row Ontario is proud to be supporting the development of coaches across the province, within a lens of gender equity and inclusivity to provide inclusive and supportive environments and programs for all. We are currently looking for coaches interested in development opportunities which pair diversity and technical education and training this spring/summer!
We are excited to be offering a FREE two-part virtual coach development opportunity for coaches wishing to pursue the Learn to Row Coach pathway, made possible by Canadian Women in Sport and The Next Play Grant Program. The Next Play Grant Program aims to increase female and gender diverse access and participation in sport across Ontario and is made possible by the Government of Ontario.
This opportunity is comprised of the Retaining Girls and Women in Sport workshop, provided by Canadian Women and Sport, and RCA Learn to Row Coach Workshop. The paired virtual workshops will provide coaches with the necessary education to technically deliver recreational programming but will also provide coaches with the tools to support female and gender diverse athletes, increase participation and retention, and foster more inclusive sporting environments for all.
This is a great opportunity for athletes looking to get started in coaching, club coaches hired through Canada Summer Jobs grants, coaches who identify as female or gender diverse, and coaches of all identities looking to increase inclusivity in their coaching practices.
There is no cost to attend the Canadian Women and Sport workshop or Learn to Row Workshop, thanks to the Next Play Grant and Canadian Women in Sport. Please note, while we encourage participants to attend both portions of this opportunity, it is not mandatory that all must attend both. We will work with interested participants and Learning Facilitators to schedule dates for the Learn to Row workshop portion in the coming weeks.
The Retaining Girls in Sport workshop will be held via ZOOM on Sunday, May 28 from 7:00-8:30pm EST, with virtual Learn to Row Workshop dates in July 2023. Limited spaces are available and placement into the program will be determined by the discretion of Row Ontario. If you or any of your coaches would be interested in being part of this opportunity, please email lily@rowontario.ca by no later than Sunday May 22, noting expression of interest, including coach name(s) and NCCP number(s).
