
Weekend Preview: 75th Annual CSSRA Championship Runs This Weekend
For the first time since 2019 the Canadian Secondary School Rowing Association (CSSRA) Championships will take place on the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta Course in St. Catharines, Ont.
The 2022 CSSRA Championships will be the 75th edition of the annual event, which attracts high school programs from across the country to compete on Martindale Pond. This year, the event will feature over 500 entries from 108 high school programs. Eight provinces will be represented at the regatta as well as several high school programs from New York, Nebraska and Michigan.
The CSSRA Championships will take place over the course of three days with races beginning on Friday morning at 10am. The first day of competition will time trials for the women’s senior single, men’s senior lightweight single and women’s senior double. The action will really start to heat up on a busy Saturday, which will see heats and semi-finals for each of the 42 race categories starting at 9am. The finals for each category will take place on Sunday beginning at 9am.
St. Catharines Ridley College leads the way with 24 entries, followed by Brentwood College (BC) with 19, and Fonthill’s EL Crossley Secondary School and Shawinigan Lake School (BC) with 16 each.
