Weekend Preview: Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships Run on Sunday
Indoor Rowing will take centre stage this weekend as the 39th edition of the Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships takes place on Sunday, Jan. 30.
CIRC will be hosted virtually for the second year in a row due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the action will start at 9am EST with the masters men’s light weight race. A full day of racing will see the competitors race in either 500m and 2000m races across age groups from U17 and up. Almost 600 competitors from over 150 clubs have registered to compete in the event, which will conclude at approximately 4:30pm EST with the women’s open, U23 and U19 category.
CIRC is open to all rowers, paddlers, crossfitters and indoor fitness buffs from across the world, as the virtual format allows for international competitors. Competition is conducted on Concept2 RowErgs and races will be held in ‘real time’ using the TIME-TEAM Race Management platform. The competitors require a stable internet connection and access to a Concept2 Static Ergometer with a PM3, PM4 or PM5 monitor. This year’s event is a sanctioned qualifier for the 2022 World Rowing Indoor Championships. Athletes can submit race scores to qualify for WRICH competition, and the top-3 in the Americas will be entered into the Final.
For those wishing to follow along with the action at home, all races will be streamed live on YouTube at the below link:
