Weekend Preview: July 16-17

While there are no regattas being hosted in Ontario this weekend there will still be plenty of rowing action featuring Ontario rowers.

The 101st Eastern Rowing Association Regatta will take place at the Montreal Olympic Basin on Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17. The annual regatta is hosted by Club d’aviron Terrebonne and will feature rowers from three Ontario clubs. The Ottawa Rowing Club will send a strong contingent of 70 entries, while the Niagara Falls Rowing Club will send 17 and the Kingston Rowing Club 13. The 100 entries from Ontario comprise almost one-third of the entries in the regatta, as there are a total of 315 entries currently registered. In addition to clubs from Quebec, clubs from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, PEI and the United States will also be competing.

The Toronto Islands Tour will also run for the first time since 2019. Hosted by the Hanlan Boat Club, participants will row from the HBC across to the islands where they will stop for lunch and enjoy a beautiful view of the city before returning. Elsewhere in the country the Cascadia RCA National Masters Championships will take place in Delta, BC with clubs from BC, Alberta and the United States competing.
