Weekend Preview: Mississauga Hosts Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships
The first national championship of 2020 will take place this weekend as the Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships will be hosted at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga, Ont. on Sunday, Feb. 9
Open to all rowers, paddlers, crossfitters and indoor fitness buffs, the CIRC’s are run by the Canadian Indoor Rowing Association and this year the competitors will be rowing on brand new Concept 2 Model Ergometers with PM5 Monitors. The Paramount Fine Foods Centre (formerly known as the Hershey Centre) has seating for over 5,000 spectators, free parking and plenty of room on the race floor for anyone aiming for a personal best or attempting to set a world record in their age category. Both the seating area and the racing area are accessible for spectators.
The event will feature race distances of 500m, 1000m, 2000m and a four-minute charity race for individuals , as well as the popular crew races in fours and doubles. The categories being contested on Sunday will be Masters, Junior, Senior, Open weight, Lightweight, Para, Novice, and Coxswain competitors.

Across the Atlantic Ocean another championship race will be contested this weekend as the 2020 World Indoor Rowing Championships will run from Feb. 7-8 in Paris, France.
