Weekend Preview: National Rowing Championships Head to Victoria
The last regatta of 2021 will take place this weekend as the attention of the Canadian rowing community will turn to Victoria, BC for the National Rowing Championships.
The national regatta is hosted by RCA and will take place on Elk Lake on Friday, Nov. 12 and Saturday, Nov. 13. The NRC’s will feature men’s and women’s singles, lightweight singles, para singles and pairs s events with the action starting at 8:30am PST on Friday with the men’s single time trials. The event finals will run on a busy Saturday and will wrap up with the finals of the women’s single around 3pm PST.
The athletes competing will represent clubs, universities, and provincial rowing associations at the event. A total of 35 rowing clubs or organizations from across the country will be represented with almost 200 boat entries. Boats from eight provinces will compete at the event with BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland all represented. The Ontario clubs represented at the event will be the Argonaut Rowing Club, Brock University Rowing Club, Don Rowing Club, Kingston Rowing Club, London Western Rowing Club, Ottawa Rowing Club, St. Catharines Rowing Club and University of Ottawa Rowing Club. Row Ontario is also sending 24 entries to the regatta.
