Registration Opens for RowOn Virtual Coaching Conference
Row Ontario, Rowing Canada Aviron, and AMP Rowing are partnering together to bring the RowOn Virtual Coaching Conference to the rowing community from Nov. 27 – Dec. 6. Registration is now open as the conference is set to kick off in just under one month.
The RowOn Virtual Coaching Conference will take place in conjunction with the 2020 World Rowing Coaches Conference. Registered conference participants will receive access to all of the World Rowing Conference sessions as well as five additional sessions run by Row Ontario, a unique opportunity for coaches everywhere to virtually attend the 2020 World Rowing Coaches Conference and gain valuable professional development knowledge while earning PD points.
“We are very excited to bring our first ever virtual coaching conference to the rowing community,” said Andrew Backer, Executive Director of Row Ontario. “Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic we were planning on hosting an in-person conference and while those plans were unfortunately sidelined, hosting a virtual conference has created some interesting opportunities that we think coaches everywhere can benefit from. We are grateful to be partnering with RCA and AMP Rowing for the conference and are thankful for their input, knowledge and contributions throughout the planning process.”
Session topics for the RowOn Virtual Coaching Conference will include Coastal Beach Racing, Frameworks for Assessing Technical Gaps, Safe Sport, Rowing Technique, and Diversity and Inclusion. The RowOn sessions will be related and complimentary to the World Rowing session topics and will feature expert presenters from related fields.
“We know that coach development is an investment that has a significant and lasting impact within our rowing communities,” said Jennifer Fitzpatrick, RCA Director of Partnerships and Sport Development. “This virtual conference offers an excellent opportunity for coaches at all levels to gain valuable insights from both national and international experts in their field. We are pleased to partner with Row Ontario and AMP Rowing to bring our coaching community together next month!”
The virtual format of the conference has created an opportunity for coaches everywhere to attend. Registration is open to coaches across Canada, the USA and elsewhere. The cost of attending the RowOn Virtual Coaching Conference and the 2020 World Rowing Coaches Conference is $40+HST, while the cost of attending just the five RowOn Virtual Coaching Conference sessions is $25+HST. Registration grants participants entry to all sessions within their chosen conference option.
“AMP Rowing is pleased to be partnering with World Rowing, Rowing Canada Aviron and Row Ontario for this unique coaching education opportunity,” said Al Morrow, who along with Peter Cookson is a managing partner with AMP Rowing. “Over the years many coaches have mentioned how much they would like to attend a World Rowing Coaches Conference and now albeit through the comforts of their homes it is now available to all of us. The lectures will allow coaches to hear from international experts on a variety of topics and on top of this, the Row Ontario sessions will offer more of a domestic perspective and will include great sessions from Canadian-based experts.”
